Here's a pretty obscure EP from an LA band called Primal Danse. Although the record was marketed through Enigma Records, very little seems to be known about this record or the label (American Standard) that it's on. It seems that the drummer, Mike Hirsch, runs a skate shop these days in Southern California. Darin Bond, who played the rototoms, is also the name of one of the members of late 90s/early 2000s garage punk band Deadites (I don't know if they are actually the same person, though). This record was released on American Standard Records in 1982. The styles vary a bit: Insomnia is a midtempo mix of psychedelic and goth (similar to Red Temple Spirits or their predecessor, Ministry of Love); Johannesburg is dark new wave; Show No Emotion is more like a dancey funk-punk song.

First off thanks for the work you do -- have found a lot of cool stuff here that's eluded me for years.
Second off I have this weird thing that sometimes happens w/ Z Share -- I get caught in an endless loop of pages cycling from the opening "Download Now" page to the "your download will begin shortly" page & then (when I click the "download here" link) back to the "download now" page & so forth. This loop never ends or actually downloads anything. Does this mean the file is gone, or is just some weird hinky thing that only I suffer from? I'm on a Mac, but it's not like this happens w/ every Z Share file so I dunno...
Ah well, either way thanks again -- I've waited for 24 years to hear this record (since I saw it advertised in Flipside #40), some more time won't kill me.

I was shocked to see my old band mentioned here, so just to update your info, we were an Orange County band, recorded the EP in 1982 in Hollywood, as far as I know we were the first American band doing the post Punk, Darker (Before it was called Goth etc.)type sound.
we played the post Cuckoo's Nest,Concert Factory & Radio City gigs for about a year & a half, then fell apart, I wished we recorded the EP later, as we got much tighter towards the end.
I played guitar & wrote the music & most of the lyrics, Keith wrote the Lyrics to Johannesburg.
Like most bands at the time,We never made a dime from the EP.
Funny that Kommunity FK was mentioned as I was good friends with the singer the six years I lived in Hollywood in the mid 80's
I did get some email saying this was getting some play again in Goth clubs in Seattle these days.

I know this sounds pretty raw, as we recorded the EP in one day, for just a few dollars, $75 if my memory serves me, alot for us back in the day.

My dad, Mike Hirsch (drummer of primal danse) told me someone wrote about his band so he showed me and I thought that was pretty cool.
